Get involved / Volunteer

Offer your time and skills through a role with clear responsibility.

Volunteering begins with organisational need, role suitability and an honest understanding of time, boundaries and support—not with an assumption that every offer can be placed immediately.

ROLE 01

Preparation, logistics and practical assistance around an approved activity.

ROLE 02

Communication

Writing, design or information support within an agreed brief and review process.

ROLE 03

Defined evidence, desk research or administrative work without access beyond the role.

Preparation is proportionate to the role, setting and level of participant or information access.

Role preparation

Access follows orientation, boundaries and a named responsibility.

The level of preparation depends on the role, setting and degree of contact with participants or organisational information.

Safeguarding-sensitive, confidential or specialist activity requires a higher suitability threshold and may not be available as a volunteer role.

04

Engagement pathway

Know the sequence before committing.

  1. 01

    Express interest

Share relevant skills, realistic availability and the type of contribution you are considering.

  2. 02

    Review current need

Thrivewell considers whether an appropriate role and support structure currently exist.

  3. 03

    Suitability conversation

Clarify expectations, boundaries, conduct and any further checks relevant to the role.

  4. 04

    Agree the role

Confirm responsibilities, supervision, timing and how questions or concerns should be raised.

  5. 05

    Review or close

Revisit fit and capacity, then continue, adjust or conclude the role responsibly.

Responsible closure

A role can be reviewed when capacity, need or circumstances change.

Volunteering should not depend on unspoken obligation. Changes in availability should be raised early enough to protect participants and programme continuity.

Recognition, references or development opportunities are considered only where appropriate to the role and supported by an accurate record of contribution.

Prepare an enquiry

Start with enough context to assess the right next step.

  • Relevant skills or experience
  • Realistic availability and location
  • The type of role you are considering

Do not include confidential client, health or safeguarding information in an initial enquiry.
