Privacy in plain language

We collect only what we need to answer you and run the service. We don't sell personal information. Anything shared in a counselling or support context is treated as confidential, with clearly explained limits where safety requires action.

  • 01

    We collect what we need

Only the details you send us and the basics required to run the site.

  • 02

    No selling of data

We never sell your personal information to anyone.

  • 03

    Confidential support

Counselling conversations are held in confidence, with clear limits.

  • 04

    You have rights

Access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information.

SECTION 01

Who this applies to

This notice covers personal information collected through the Thrivewell Counselling Foundation website and directly through the services described on it. It should be read alongside any service-specific privacy information provided when support or programme participation begins.

SECTION 02

Information we collect

We collect two kinds of information:

  • Information you give us, for example, when you contact us, request support, refer someone, sign up to a programme, or apply to volunteer. Typically this includes your name, email address, and the message you send.
  • Basic technical information, for example, browser type and approximate location, needed to serve the site securely and diagnose problems.

Where a form asks for sensitive information (for example, in a support or referral context), we tell you why and how it will be used.

SECTION 03

How we use it

  • To respond to enquiries and requests for support.
  • To provide, coordinate, and improve the services described on this site.
  • To keep the site secure and to prevent misuse.
  • To fulfil legal, safeguarding, or regulatory obligations where they apply.
SECTION 04

Confidentiality in counselling

Information shared in the context of counselling or support is treated as confidential. Limits to confidentiality, including where there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, are explained at the start of any support relationship.

For more, see our safeguarding page.

SECTION 05

Cookies and analytics

This website uses only the cookies necessary for it to function. If we add optional analytics or third-party cookies in future, they will be documented here and you will be asked before they are set.

SECTION 06

Third parties and processors

We do not sell personal information. Where a third-party service is used to support our work (for example, to host the website or handle donations), it is chosen with care, bound by appropriate agreements, and referenced here where relevant.

SECTION 07

How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, and no longer than that, unless we are required to keep it for legal, safeguarding, or record-keeping reasons. Enquiry messages are typically kept for up to 24 months.

SECTION 08

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete information, subject to legal and safeguarding limits.
  • Object to certain uses, or withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To exercise these rights, please contact us.

SECTION 09

Children and young people

Where a service involves children or young people, we work through appropriate consent from a parent, guardian, or referring institution, and follow our safeguarding practices.

SECTION 10

Contact and complaints

Privacy enquiries can be sent through our contact page, or to support@tcfoundation.ng. If we are unable to resolve a concern, you may also raise it with the relevant data protection authority.

SECTION 11

Updates to this notice

This notice will be updated as our practices evolve. Material updates will be reflected on this page, with the "last updated" date at the top of the page changed accordingly.
